Description
This black and white photograph shows us a Caterpillar 775E rock truck being put to good use as its purpose is to move items such as gravel, rocks-big or small and earth (dirt) that needs to be moved fast and with the capability to move very heavy loads.
Pretty much since the beginning of time our need to move and get around and travel has been very important. Whether it be by simply walking or so many other ways of transportation.
We need and use several kinds of roadway systems that provide us with safe, feasible and convenient ways to travel and get around, whether it be a road, thoroughfare, route across the mountains, prairies, towns or in our major cities, they can be called roads, roadways, parkways, avenues, freeways, highways, interstates, tollways, primary or secondary or perhaps territory roads… These convenient and essential ways help us travel from place to place and are most likely paved or otherwise improved to allow travel by foot or other ways of transportation including motor vehicles, motorcycle, bicycle, cart or even by horse.
Major road construction projects include the construction of new roadways, rehabilitation and upgrades to existing roads and intersections. Transportation Infrastructure departments are in charge of major road construction projects for cities, provinces or states.
With the making of such roads or highways it takes the use of some very large equipment to complete these huge infrastructures like Rock Trucks, Excavators, Bulldozers, Backhoes, Graders, Tracked Loaders, Road Roller Machines.
Some of the basic dimensions for this Caterpillar 775E rock truck are as follows, with an overall length of 30.2 ft and 14.6 ft wide with an average height of 14.5 ft and a ground clearance of 2.2 ft. It has a rated payload of 136,488.2 lb (61,910 kg) and can hold a heaping load capacity of 54.3 yd3.
Although this style of truck is not one of the biggest trucks on the market, as mining trucks can be much bigger. This trucks size makes it a very popular piece of heavy equipment seen on many roadway construction sites.
