Description
This black and white photograph shows us a well weather-beaton cattail worn down by the exposure to the fall rains and cold air, that will soon turn into winter upon the pond.
Autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperatures start to cool down in September and October.
With the coldest season shortly on its way, the cattails with in their pond patiently wait for winter in the northern hemisphere from December to February.
Cattails are a tall reedlike marsh plant that have strap-like leaves as well have a velvety dark brown cylindrical head. As some other plants and deciduous trees start shedding their leaves, cattails and the tall grass that surround the edge of the marsh tend to turn a wonderful golden yellow-brown colour.
(Please note: The "Watermark" will not appear on final prints of the photograph.
