Description
This photograph shows us a room or workshop that is with in a replica of an Old Fort that was built in the early 1870’s. This room was beside the blacksmith’s quarters and workshop where it was used to build and prepare wagon wheels, which proved to be one of, if not the most important part of any wagon.
Wagons were used for so many things, whether it was for farming, hauling freight or people, and with so many different kinds of wagons, each with their own individual use and all of them proved to be very important during those times. There were many names, such as - covered wagons, stagecoaches, prairie schooners, cook’s wagons or chuck wagon, sheep wagons and many types of military wagons and were all a very important part of the 1800’s and earlier.
The wheels were designed to be very useful and practical with out the idea of being attractive, they were made to be strong enough for very heavy loads over country and rural roads and dependable for everyday use.
Wagons were used for so many reasons. In the 1800’s, many settlers were traveling ‘out west,’ they used freight wagons that were piled high with supplies and food, much needed items needed for forts, and trading posts for early pioneers and farmers.

Lovely composition!

Thank your very much Sarah! It's always appreciated. They had a little tiny spot light shinning right on the centre wheel that just happened to light up a small spot from the past. Thanks again. Take care.
