Description
In many cases a watchtower or lookout tower were built to create an elevated observation point which would provide a high, safe lookout point for an observer.
Whether it was used in archaic times or for more recent times and events. A watchtower or lookout can be used to keep watch and provide a view over such areas of landscape which could have been used for military or non-military use, or an lookout post to spot smoke rising from a forest fire.
This photograph shows us a black and white view of an example of an old wooden lookout post. This view shows us perhaps someone peering up towards the watchtower through the cover of trees, scoping out the situation to find out if a sentry has been posted to watch over the surrounding area for possible intruders.
As this person peers through the cover of the forest, one can’t help but think if this is being done while they figure out how to proceed with the possibility of an attack upon the closed in compound.
