Artist's Description
This photograph shows us a little bit of the compound of a old fort replica, where in its time would have been a very active place, especially when wagons would be arriving with supplies and where one might have parked their wagon when not in use or perhaps just waiting to be loaded up to head further south during the mid 1870’s.
In 1874 the NWMP (North West Mounted Police) arrived in Southern Alberta to establish Fort Macleod and the next year they set up a detachment. Which was set up in Fort Whoop-Up, the largest and most notorious of the bison robe trading posts in Southern Alberta.
It was 1967 and the Kinsmen Club in Lethbridge - Alberta, opened up the first replica of Fort Whoop-Up. It was in 1985 the replica fort was reconstructed based on new research.

About Jor Cop Images
I've been told that I can't tell a short story, so I have decided to let the lens speak for me instead. Born and raised in Southern Alberta, Canada I was fortunate to grow up near the Rockies. This gave me an appreciation of the land and inspired me to capture this emotion to share with others. Through my travels and experiences, I've come to appreciate the beauty of many different subjects. The wild, colourful, living or inanimate object, all have their beauty. My wish is to share their stories with you. JRC (Jor Cop)
