Description
With the coldest season shortly on its way, this black and white photograph shows us three fallen leaves that have found themselves floating upon a pond, shaded by the fall winds behind a small boat dock only 40 feet off a new shore.
Autumn (also known as fall in North American English) is one of the four different seasons that Mother Nature hands us.
Fall marks the transition from summer to winter, as the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperatures start to cool down in September and October.
At this time of year one can often find many different kinds of leaves that have fallen from broadleaf trees, which is from the diverse botanical group of angiosperms that have flat leaves. One of its main features is the shedding of its leaves from this deciduous tree.
The angiosperms group of trees are one of two general types of trees, the other type is a conifer tree which has needle-like leaves. Broad-leaved trees are sometimes known as hardwoods.
(Please note: The "Watermark" will not appear on final prints of the photograph.
